Introduction in to our MLUGEO UAV-Services

Drones offer a variety of applications within research and teaching of our Institute of Geosciences and Geography at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. Currently, 3 multicopter platforms and a fixed-wing aircraft as well as a versatile sensor system are available for various environmental investigations. The focus of data collection by UAV is currently on biophysical parameters, microscale agrometeorological data and geomorphometric structures of terrain surfaces.
In the context of imaging techniques, a wide range of sensors for aerial (RGB) and multispectral imaging is in use. The investigations of the expression of height information are carried out by a LiDAR system. In addition, point measurements with a UAV-mounted anemometer are also possible. The video gives an impression of the drones and associated sensor technology in use at our company as of March 2023.

Which research areas have we already flown over in various projects with our available sensor technology? Our Open Data MLUGEO.UAV metadata catalogue provides an overview of this.
